BronxWorks is hiring an Accounts Payable Accountant for the Fiscal Department.
Receive and review invoices together with purchase orders, packing list and other items.
Review and if necessary, correct coding and information on purchase orders, payment authorization or check request that have been approved by appropriate staff with approval authority.
Prepare Payment Authorization Form for invoices and to get the required signature from Grants & Contract staff.
Send invoices to different programs to prepare Payment Authorization Form.
Enter invoices into the Fund EZ on a regular basis
Process payment request and invoices requested by Supervisor as needed.
Submit requests missing invoices, packing slip, W-9 forms from Vendors.
Print checks for vendors weekly and as needed.
Register checks to chase bank via positive pay, stop payment with the bank when required.
Send invoices to agency programs to approve and prepare request for payment.
Assist with payroll checks distribution, as needed.
Assist with audits by funders and for year-end financial statements.
Make bank deposits and go to post office as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.
High School diploma.
A minimum of 2 – 3 years of accounts payable experience.
Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required. Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.
