The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO)Opens a New Window. provides employment services to people with recent criminal convictions.   Across the United States, over 5,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 25,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.  Since 2009, CEO has gained support to expand its programs through government, nonprofit, and private organizations including the Federal Social Innovation Fund, the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation, Robin Hood Foundation, and Rockefeller Foundation. In 2016, CEO embarked on a 5-year strategic plan to grow to serve 9,000 participants annually.

The Opportunity

CEO is searching for a Program Assistant with demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm for CEO’s mission. The Program Assistant will be responsible for providing  direct support to several of CEO’s national offices across the country in the data entry and participant engagement functional areas. The overarching responsibility is to assist our vocational team with administrative duties that will allow focus on providing direct services to our participants.

The Nitty Gritty of the Job

Responsibilities of the Program Assistant include but are not limited to:

Envisioning and coordinating with CEO staff to develop a system that generates participant profiles and tracks required intake documentation, which will involve building and implementing workflows, approval processes, and mechanisms by which to escalate procedures according to CEO needs and requirements
Assisting in the participant intake process by entering participant data into CEO’s online database (Salesforce)
Reviewing and confirming that all documents received from front-line staff are in compliance with the requirements of the CEO program and federal guidelines
Maintaining accurate records in Salesforce and updating any changes in participant’s case records..
Communicating with P2E instructors on a daily basis to provide updates on data entry progress as well as flagging missing or inaccurate data
Conducting weekly follow-ups with office staff to make sure program needs are being met
Engaging with participants via phone calls and text messages to encourage attendance in LSE class and in all pre-scheduled meetings with Job Coaches, Job Developers, and Retention Specialists
Re-engaging post-placement participants for the purpose of retrievals and redevelopment
Performing other duties and responsibilities that will be assigned as needed.

Who You Are

You have excellent time management and follow-up skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and/or ask for help to do so when needed. You’re a problem solver, anticipating and identifying potential challenges before they progress and implementing solutions. You possess exceptional computer navigation skills, preferably with experience using Salesforce and the ability to quickly learn new software. You’re able to work effectively under pressure and at a sustained pace, managing emotional highs and lows, while maintaining focus on objectives. You pride yourself on providing attentive and responsive customer service, demonstrating respect, fairness, patience and efficiency. You come to CEO with at least 1 year of data entry experience.

Compensation and Benefits
