Overview:The Assistant Beacon Program Director will be responsible for overall program development, supervision, and implementation of the Afterschool Program. The Assistant Director will assist the Program Director in managing daily planning, scheduling, and operations. He/She will work with the Program Director to integrate services and assume overall leadership of the Program in the absence of the Program Director.

 

Reports To: Program Director
Location: Bronx, NY
Hours: 35 hours, Exempt
Major Duties:
Conduct overall leadership and implementation of the Afterschool Program.
Develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures with the Director’s supervision/assistance.
Plan with the Director and direct and supervise the Summer Camp Program.
Provide Direct Supervision to GSS Volunteers, Program Aides, Group Leaders and Youth Interns.
Input & file all applications, attendance, monitor absentees and document and report all incidents.
Build and maintain working relationships with parents & the school community.
Responsible for Participants recruitment for the afterschool and summer programs.
Develop and maintain community partnerships including the host school with the Director’s supervision/assistance.
Oversee client referrals to other programs as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Associate Degree required, preferably in Social Work or Education but a Bachelor Degree preferred and 3 years’ experience in youth program supervision and/or administration.
Experience in program development for youth.
Must be able to engage in crisis-intervention activities and demonstrate, lead, and teach a range of group activities.
Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
