Food Program and Volunteer Coordinator

QARI (Quincy Asian Resources, Inc.) is a not-for-profit social service organization which
provides immigrants with opportunities to succeed through a broad range of wraparound
services, including adult education, youth programs, workforce development, and family and

Under the direction of the NYC Manager, Program & Services, the Food Program and Volunteer
Coordinator will support food distribution, outreach and community engagement at public
schools in the Bronx. The Coordinator must be a strong communicator, eager and willing to
learn about the community and engage with students, parents, Montefiore health center staff,
and school partners to improve food security and nutrition education. S/He will be the primary
onsite contact for school administrators and partners and lead program implementation,
evaluation, and family engagement.

Hours/Week Category: Full Time
Location: Bronx, NYC
Reports To: NYC Manager, Program & Services

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and oversee regular food distributions at up to 6 schools in the Bronx;
Be physically present at each partner site to manage food sorting, packaging,
distribution, and to manage volunteers;
Track and maintain accurate program data and site reports for each distribution,
including assisting with surveys and program evaluation;
Assist students and families with QARI’s integrated services including but not limited to
SNAP outreach and application assistance, translating documents, helping to draft
letters, and providing referrals to other services as needed;

Coordinate and recruit volunteers to support PHA food distributions and other program
events;Identify corporate volunteer partners, high schools, and other partners to build volunteer
program;Proactively identify new program areas and community partners to address needs of the
school community;Support communication, outreach and grow awareness about QARI’s food security
programs and services through social media, newsletters, and other tools;
Build positive relationships and confidence with students, families, school leadership,
and Montefiore program team;Communicate and collaborate with the QARI team to ensure clients are supported and
all needs are responded to in a timely manner;Additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:

Required bilingual candidate (Spanish/English preferred).
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in nutrition education, public health, social work, or
related field. Additional work experience may be substituted for a degree.
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse socioeconomic, cultural,
and ethnic backgrounds of the South Bronx community.
Previous experience working in an educational setting preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including experience building strong
community relationships with clients, partner organizations, and others.
Experience with GSuite (Gmail, Google Meet and Drive) and Salesforce a plus.
Maintains reliable form of transportation and/or valid driver’s license including ability and
willingness to travel.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
