GENERAL DUTIES
Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Reporting to the College Now Coordinator at Lehman College, the College Now Counselor will support currently enrolled College Now students in the successful completion of College Now courses by:
meeting with College Now students to advise in areas including, but not limited to, academic performance, time management, workloads, attendance and responsibilities
providing early intervention for students
contacting and/or meeting with parents to support students’ progress
developing and conducting workshops
visiting partner high schools on a regular basis
meeting with high school counselors
preparing reports and maintaining student records
Our mission is to increase the level of academic readiness among New York City public high school students, especially in the Bronx. Lehman College Now program services over 1800 students/year from approximately 60 Bronx high schools. The centerpiece of the Lehman College Now program is the opportunity for qualified high school students to enroll in college credit courses offered on the Lehman College campus. The program is free for students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor degree in Social Work or related field required. Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field preferred.
Candidate should also have experience working with target population and be familiar with high school environment.
Background focus on youth and social services a plus.
Must be willing/able to travel to partner high schools throughout the Bronx.
Flexible hours, some Saturdays required.
Strong work ethic and character with high degree of personal integrity and discretion in maintaining confidentiality.
Microsoft skills, including Excel.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
The rate is $46.49 per hour and the expectation is 12-15 hours per week, not exceeding 225 hrs for the fall semester.
