The Office of School and Community Partnerships (OSCP) leverages faculty and student expertise, research, teaching, and service to enrich learning and improve outcomes in New York City public schools, especially those in the local community. A major initiative of OSCP is the development of Teachers College Community School (TCCS), which was established by Teachers College and the New York City Department of Education as a non-selective, public, demonstration PreK-8 school with a formal affiliation with TC. Opened in 2011, the school now serves pre-Kindergarten through seventh grades. Grades PreK and 3-7 are located at 168 Morningside Avenue; Grades K-2 are located at 223 W 132nd Street. TCCS (Teachers College Community School) is seeking up to four interim math tutors to work with 1st grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade students from March 28, 2022–June 3, 2022. Depending on the number of tutors and the schedule of the tutors, tutors may each work 4-8 hours per week. Pay is $20/hour.
Responsibilities include:
work with students in push-in or pull-out settings to help support their math learning
coordinate with the DOE teachers on what students should focus on
correspond with the TCCS Liaison regarding materials and support needed
Minimum requirements
Must have experience teaching or tutoring math with K-5 or K-8 students
Must have experience in an instructional setting with K-8 students
Strong collaboration skills as evidenced by ability to build positive relationships and work as part of a team with a strong initiative to drive forward project goals while demonstrating respect and humility
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate concepts in writing and orally
Demonstrated skills and abilities to exercise professional judgment, work independently and show initiative
Passionate commitment to expanding opportunities for one of the most diverse school communities in Harlem
