Overview:The Deputy Fire Life Safety Director/Security Officer III position is responsible for managing tenant and guest access to a Durst Commercial property. Lobby security officers are often the first point of contact for visitors entering the building. They must maintain control of the lobby portal and not allow any unauthorized entries to the facilities. They are expected to manage all inquiries in a professional and courteous manner, follow all security protocols for people and packages entering the building, and maintain the functionality of the lobby desk area.
We are seeking a DFSD/Security Officer III position to be based at 205 East 42nd Street. The post is the Fire Command Center/Lobby Desk and the shift/schedule for this position will be:
Friday-Saturday from 12:00am-8:00am; Sunday from 8:00am-4:00pm and Monday-Tuesday from 4:00pm-12:00am (days off are Wednesday and Thursday).
Responsibilities:Processing all tenants and visitors entering the building, including:Requesting and checking government issued ID.
Searching visitor database to verify visitor pre-registration.
Contacting tenants to verify visitors who are not pre-registered.
Capturing visitor photo, entering visitor information into the access control database, and printing visitor day passes.
Maintaining printer and computers in lobby area used for visitor access processing.
Directing visitors carrying large packages or items to the loading dock or other appropriate area for x-ray scanning.
Checking packages that are being removed from the premises and ensuring proper documentation is provided.
Monitoring Class E fire command station.
Making announcements over public address system.
Assisting in conducting fire drills.
Qualifications:Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers including but not limited to:
Current New York State Security Guard License required
Current FSD Certification to assist Life Safety functions F/89 or current Z/50 and able to pass certification for F/89 within two test attempts
Current AED/CPR/First Aid Certification
Strong attention to detail
Ability to follow specified security protocols
Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security screening procedure and use required equipment
Must be able to read, comprehend and comply with regulations, correspondence as well as complete forms and reports as required;
Should have prior knowledge of or willing to learn security related software applications
Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned account.
