Creates value and reputation to the Bank through community activities.

 

Responsibilities

Responsible for promoting and coordinating community activities, to help accomplish Ponce Bank’s mission.

 

Essential Functions:

Measures community impact through an analysis of the CRA and Community Affairs event participation matrix (Hours, #’s staff members, #’s organizations, # people impacted (attendees) and provides monthly reports to SVP/Chief of External Affairs officer.
Coordinates, tracks and identifies potential CRA/ CA/Community Development Events.
Keeps abreast of changes in the communities the Bank serves to work with community entities and identifies Community Development resources.
Coordinates event support with BDM’s and Marketing department (needs: Table, tents, chairs, banners, flyers, etc.)
Sets, monitors and works through the achievement of community event goals based on the Community needs in the areas we serve.
Be a liaison between the Director of Non Profit Services, the Community and the Bank in order to manage projects that impact and empower the communities we serve.
Have an active presence in the community by participating in events, with the objective to promote the bank brand and create new connections with the communities we serve.
Maintains a data base of all community organizations and their contact information.
Creates an annual action plan in order to improve CRA and Community Affairs efforts.
Builds Ponce’s brand through community activities.
Engages in public relations activities including identifying potential storytelling opportunities.
Supports digital efforts on community events, including event applications, and website registration.
Supports and creates content on community activities to support the brand and presence of the Bank.
Supports and tracks speaking opportunities and participation in local events for senior management.
Promotes key company initiatives and business objectives via event opportunities.
Periodically presents and reports to executives on Community Affairs initiatives.

 

Ancillary Functions

Assures adherence to Bank policies and procedures and federal and state regulatory requirements.
Provides cross-functional support to other areas of the department and the Bank where service or assistance is needed.
Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.

 

Mandatory Training Curricula

Training is required of all Bank staff as related to regulatory mandated compliance topics and courses required for specific job functions. Career enhancement training courses are also available. Please refer to course catalog and management for details.

 

Skills

Clearly communicates in English, and Spanish is helpful.
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
Proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills.
Thorough knowledge of banking operations, policies, and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services.
Thorough knowledge of current banking regulations, including the Community Reinvestment Act.
Demonstrated management and supervisory skills.
Engaging personality and professional demeanor to interact confidently with members and community partners.
Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present as needed.
Demonstrated ability to work with external agencies and manage day-to-day interactions.
Ability to align day-to-day activities to assigned objectives, incorporate feedback, and take direction well.
Energetic, hard-working attitude when working independently or as an integral member of External Affairs team.
Passion for accuracy and thoroughness with the ability to monitor and check own work to ensure quality.

Physical Demands

The physical and related demands described in this section are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job is mostly sedentary in nature, but may occasionally involve lifting files and other materials that weigh up to 20 lbs. Employees in this job must be able to work in an office environment during regular business hours where they come into regular and frequent contact with internal and external customers and other members of the public. Therefore, employees in this position are expected to have consistently positive interactions with the public.

 

Education/Training

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Community Development, Communications, Public Relations, English, or related field strongly preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.

 

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of related experience in Community Affairs, Community Development or overall External Affairs roles, normally required.
