Overview:Job Summary: The Activity Instructor – STEAM will facilitate age appropriate and engaging science, technology, engineering, arts, and math activities to ensure that the program adheres to curricula and best youth development practices.
Reports to: PROGRAM Director, CS 300

 

Location: 2050 Prospect Avenue, Bronx New York 10457

 

Hours: 18 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt

 

Major Duties:
Design, prepare and facilitate engaging and sequenced STEAM activities for all students as assigned.
Work closely with the Education Specialist to develop, implement and monitor STEAM lesson plans in alignment with program goals and standards
Collaborate with Group Leaders and Assistant Group Leaders to implement STEAM activities and address obstacles to student success.
Create opportunities for culminating final projects which demonstrate student success and achievement.
Attend professional development and technical assistance trainings for STEAM curricula.
Assist the Program Director with reporting and tracking all STEAM activities.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. College credits toward a STEAM-degree preferred.
Strong classroom management and facilitation skills required.
Knowledge of Google CS First, Scratch and other computer science software preferred.
Experience leading project based activities preferred.
Must have experience working with youth.
Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth development perspective.
