Responsibilities

 

The Plant Inspector’s job responsibilities include heavy construction tasks. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Wearing appropriate safety equipment and following established safety practices and procedures.
Climbing ladders and working in locations where heavy construction operation is in process.
Using record schematic, drawings, and reports to identify all plant in any specific geographical area.
Providing daily reports, measurement and quantities of work as completed in the field construction environment.
Ensuring that excavation contractors avoid damage to Empire City outside plant facilities.
Communicating with construction contractors, NYC agencies and other utility companies.
Reporting and following up on any new construction work observed.
Marking and locating Empire City and/or New York Telephone Company plant in an area where street construction is in progress.
May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
In this worksite-based role, you’ll work onsite at a defined location.

 

Qualifications

You thrive on working independently in a vibrant urban area. Your skill with scale maps, drawings and records help the whole team win – and you take pride in a job well done.

 

You’ll need to have:

Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Even better if you have:

A related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
General understanding of NY811 and NYS 811 rules and regulations regarding marking out underground facilities.
Ability to use handheld electronic devices to record contractor work operations.
